An ideal location for exploring both the Llyn Peninsula to the west with
its gentle rolling hills and quaint seaside towns or soaring to the majestic
heights of the Snowdonia National Park to the East with its astounding
natural beauty and lakes. Take one of the most spectacular railway journeys,
operating since 1896, for breathtaking views, waterfall cascades through
ancient oak forest to the summit of England and Wales’ tallest mountain,
Snowdon.
An abundance of the finest surviving medieval fortifications in
Britain surround the area. Criccieth’s own hill fort built in the
1230’s by Llywelyn the Great, a Welsh Prince is set on a rocky perch
overlooking the bay. Remodelled by Edward I’s forces, it now stands
in ruins and is the perfect location for a picnic.
A gentle stroll towards
the castle takes you to the unmissable Cadwaladers famous Ice Cream
store made from a traditional secret recipe since 1927.
